Separate an Employee

This Job Aid will guide you through the process of separating an employee (voluntary or involuntary). In order to separate an employee, you must have the role of Manager for your location. If you do not have this role/access, reach out to your District Manager for assistance.

1.

Please Note: If you are entering an Attendance and/or No Call/No Show termination, ensure you’ve completed the Attendance Term Request form (located on Connect), before proceeding.

 

Once logged into Workday, click the My Team icon.

Click the Terminate button in the Action column.

Click the Employee Menu icon.

 

4.

Click My Team.

 

5.

Click the employee you wish to Terminate.

Click OK.

7.

Click the Pencil icon to edit the detail for the termination.

Fill in the appropriate details for the termination, including:

Primary Reason: Reason for termination – Involuntary or Voluntary

Termination Date: Final date of employment for the employee

Last Day of Work: Same as Termination Date

Pay Through Date: Same as Termination Date

Resignation Date: (Optional) If the employee resigned, enter the date the employee gave their notice.

(Optional) Enter Comments into the Comments field.

(Optional) Attach supporting files by dropping them into the box or by clicking the Select Files button.

Please Note: If you are terminating for an Attendance violation, you must attach the appropriate documentation to support your claim or the termination will be sent back to you.

Click Submit.

Click Done.

The termination has been sent to your HR Partner for review. You can view the status of the approval via the Archive tab of your Workday inbox.
